In this session, Michael cuts through the noise and shares a brutally honest perspective on AI in security. Drawing from real-world deployments and operational experience, we’ll explore where AI genuinely delivers value today and where it falls short, introducing new risks, blind spots, and false confidence.
We’ll also tackle the uncomfortable questions: What happens when attackers use AI better than defenders? How do we validate AI-driven decisions? And are we quietly outsourcing critical thinking to models we don’t fully understand?

A Quarter Century of Identity: Why AD Still Gets Breached, and What Leaders Must Change in 2026

Active Directory has been the backbone of enterprise identity for over 25 years. And yet, it remains one of the most consistently compromised systems in modern environments.
In this session, Michael takes a step back to reflect on a quarter century of identity evolution and asks a difficult question: why are we still getting this wrong?
We’ll dissect the recurring patterns behind AD breaches: from privilege sprawl and legacy protocols to misplaced trust and operational shortcuts. We will explore why traditional approaches to hardening and monitoring continue to fall short. More importantly, we’ll shift the focus from technical fixes to leadership decisions, examining what needs to change in how organizations prioritize, fund, and govern identity security.
This is not another checklist session. It’s a candid look at systemic failure and a call to rethink identity as a business-critical control plane, not just an IT system.
